HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Everyone has those things...
Those little things ...
those little irritations
First you notice you're grinding your teeth
then the eye twitch starts
Yes my friend, you are irritated.
Things that irritate me you ask?
People who want to loose weight?
Really?
Really?
Loose? You can't LOOSE weight... your skin may be loose cos you need to LOSE weight...
Another?
When Thai peanut sauce says "may contain peanuts" on the label.
Really? Peanuts? In Peanut sauce? NO!
Also...
When the instructions on your hairdryer says "do not use while in the shower"
um... what? Really?

Have a great irritation free weekend!

coward

I am a coward.

I am.

A huge - freakin' coward...

So, I wrote HERE about a fight I had with a co-worker. Well... not a fight- more of a verbal attack. I hardly slept at ALL on Monday night. Upset by the way I was treated - replaying in my mind what happened and how I would handle work on Tuesday.

I was ready

I had the entire conversation in my mind. How she would try to be nice to me, and how I would tell her she crossed the line. She was beyond rude and condescending. Yes, I am an easy going person and I let a lot of things slide - but she went beyond what was forgivable.

I. Was. Ready.

She came in...

HER: Morning

ME: Morning (she's still a co-worker, I won't flat out ignore her)

HER: I am so incredibly sorry for what happened yesterday. I crossed the line, I was beyond obnoxious, no one should ever be treated that way, and I am sorry!

ME: Obnoxious is a good word. I used condescending when I told everyone what you did

HER: Obnoxious, condescending. I would use both those terms, and I am very sorry. I was stressed should have never taken that out on you.

ME: (this is where the coward comes out) It's ok dude

We hug

HER: I really am sorry

ME: It's cool, don't worry about it

Man... What is WITH me? I just forgave her - acted like nothing happened. It was over - my speech flew out the window.

coward.

Weightloss Wednesday

And now for a super yummy recipe:

Turkey Taco Bowls
1 Serving
Adapted from a Rachel Ray recipe

Ingredients
120 g turkey, ground (raw weight)
2 small tortilla wrap, whole wheat
1 dash spices, cumin
1 dash chili powder
1/2 clove garlic, raw
1/4 medium onion, raw, chopped
1/2 cup shredded
or chopped
lettuce, iceberg, raw
1 /2 medium tomato, chopped
15 g cheese, cheddar, shredded
1 tbsp sour cream, light
2 tbsp sauce, salsa, ready-to-serve
1/2 tbsp vegetable oil, olive
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Wrap the tortillas in a damp towel and microwave for 10-15 seconds. Baste tortilla on both sides with canola oil and
gently push them into a jumbo muffin tin, forming a cup shape.
3. Bake tortillas for about 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and hold their shape.
4. While the tortillas are cooking, place a medium-size, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of
olive oil. Add the ground turkey, season with salt and pepper and cook, breaking up the pieces with the back of a wooden
spoon, about 6-7 minutes until brown all over.
5. Add onion and grate the garlic right over the skillet with the fine side of a grater.
6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, then add the chili powder and cumin, and cook for another couple minutes. If the mixture
seems dry, add a couple tablespoons of water to loosen it up. Turn the heat off and set aside to keep warm.
7. Chop up the lettuce.
8. Place the tortilla bowls into deep cereal bowls and scoop a couple of big spoonfuls of the turkey mixture into each tortilla.
Top the turkey with a sprinkle of cheese, some chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce on top. Spoon salsa and sour
cream over the top and serve.

Ranty McRant Rant

Ok, its rant time again. So... I work with this woman - she is pretty descent a lot of the time. A little intense a little in your face - but you know - pretty descent. So yesterday I was leaving work:
ME: Do you need anything before I go?
HER: No
ME: Ok, well have a good night
HER: ....
ME: I'll see you tomorrow:
HER: ....
so I leave - maybe she didn't hear me... maybe I didn't hear her - I leave and there is a big fed-ex box for her by my desk - I go to tell her - maybe it's something she's waiting for... she should know its there... you know - normal for me to go tell her
ME: There is a HUGE fed-ex box for you by my desk do you want me to drag it in here?
HER: WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
ME: What?
HER: CAN YOU LEAVE?
ME: Um... what?
HER: JUST LEAVE?
ME: ok
I leave. I get outside. I worry... what if something is wrong
I go back (this was my mistake)
ME: (in the gentlest voice I can muster) Hey, are you ok? Can I help you with something? I'm happy to stay a bit longer.
HER: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!?!??!
ME: I am simply asking if you re ok
HER: I'm fine, now get out!
ME: Ok, I can appreciate that you're upset right now, but honestly, you have no right to speak to me that way
HER: (In the most condescending tone I have EVER heard in my ENTIRE life - seriously, she turns and looks at me and says) If you don't like the way I am speaking to you then get out of my office. What? What's the problem? What do you want me to say? If you have a problem with me - get out!
Um... did I miss something? Is offering to help someone like - the worst. thing. ever? I don't get it.
I work with ALL women... me plus FIVE OTHER WOMEN - and yah .... we all get bitchy - but never in my entire life would I EVER speak to or co-worker that way. Usually - we give a warning when we get in "Hey, how are you? Oh good - I am super bitchy" then we know - stay back. But this chick was in a freakin great mood all day - then 3:00 rolls around and its time to cage the beast. What is us up with that? Isn't that a bit unprofessional? I mean, we have to work together - Every. Single. Day. of the week!
Am I wrong?
Am I the bitch here?
I was totally excited to go and pick up my wedding band, but I was so upset by the time I left the building I just went home :( so now it just sits at the jewellers.

Music Monday

Aaaah, the Pixies. How I love them. I first heard this song on the movie Pump Up the Volume with Christian Slater. If you haven't seen that movie -- classic!

From that point on - I LOVED the pixies. They aren't little hotties that simply can't sing - they are just great!! I hope you enjoy it!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Good morning everyone!!!

We are counting down the days to the big wedding (31 days). So thats pretty exciting. My mother asked his mother how she felt about the news. She said numb. When her cousin/best buddy passed away - she also said she was numb... um.... hmmm... is that a bad thing? Anyone? Anyone? Maybe shocked but happy would have been a better choice of words? Anyone?
Check out yours truely featured on Oh, Mishka for Worst Gift Wednesday... Wait... is THAT a bad thing? Anyone? Anyone?

Have a great weekend everyone!

LISTEN!

So my future husband came home today... running in place - super excited... (My future husband will be known as JP)

JP: DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS JUST OVER A MONTH AWAY?!?!?!?!? (still running in place)

ME: OUR WEDDING!! (smiling ear to ear because he is finally showing some enthusiasm - you know - instead of saying "whatever you think, I don't have an opinion")

JP: (Less excited) Oh, right... I meant the start of hockey season

Me: *rolling eyes*

JP: Looooooove yooooooou *smiling sheepishly*

Me: *rolling eyes*

Will he ever be as excited over the wedding as he will hockey? I realize just writing that sentence that the answer is no.

I saw this over HERE the other day... wow... listening IS important...

Can you imagine?!?!? How horrible!!

I think its fake - do you think it's fake? Like... wouldn't she worry that he was hurt or in the hospital or something?

Weightloss Wednesday

Is this a healthy standard? Is this something we should be teaching young girls?
Tori Spelling - look at her bones sticking out.. LOOK AT HER LEG?!?!!? What is going on with her LEG!!?!?

Here we have Allegra Versace - wow... she has a known eating disorder - but noone seems to be overly concerned with helping her

Up next we have Nicole Richie before and after - which picture is she healthier?

And finally - why are these people called "chunky" or "thick" or "heavy"?

I understand the importance of having a healthy body weight. I understand that excess fat is a cause of major health problem... but these two are hardly obese or even overweight.

The News

So about the weekend. We had a nice brunch - we gave everyone the news (on a side note, our families do not know I have a blog. I would not post it here BEFORE telling them). Anywho, the parents took it surprisingly well. Like really really well. They were excited. They weren't upset that we were eloping. They are eagerly planning a party for when we return. My future husbands grandmother on the other hand. Wow. Things did not go well. She was VERY upset, and would not let up about how selfish we were. I wasn't impressed. But we are going to a beautiful place to get married - and we get a wedding and a honeymoon in one. To have a wedding here (which we did plan) was about 18,000. To go away and have a wedding/vacation, 4,000. We made the right decision. And really... we have no one to please but ourselves.

We also got our bands. It was a bit humorous as my fingers are too small to order in my size. They just need to get the smallest size and size it. And my future husbands fingers are too big. They need to special order his as well. We are quite happy with our decision. The rings were 1,000 of the 4,000. So really - a really cheap wedding.

I have a friend coming down to be our photographer - we went to school together and I am very excited to see her again.

This is where we are doing the deed:

How pretty is that?

Music Monday

Ok, music Monday is a little different this week. This is not a song that I think will be known as a "classic" in 20 years. I think this artist is looked over because of the "shock value". The main meaning of this song seems pretty - um - what's the word I'm looking for. It's meaningful? It's actually kinda sweet? Anyway -here is Marilyn

I know - weird video - kinda creepy.

On the topic of Marilyn, I strongly recommend you watch Bowling for Columbine. It is a great movie - and Marilyn is quite smart and articulate in it. I admit, he is getting a little old for the make up, and that outside of the lip lipliner drives me crazy (I used to work for Clinique), but in general - a pretty smart guy.
On the topic of Bowling for Columbine (shooting in Columbine) Fahrenheit 911 (about 911) and Sicko (about healthcare) are also very good. I recommend you see all three of these movies. Roger and Me wasn't 100%. I wouldn't recommend it - its kind of scattered and random. But those other 3, I really think everyone should see.
Being Canadian, I can tell you universal health care is the way to go. I cannot wrap my brain around the health care in the US. If I hurt myself - I just go to the doctor - I don't even think twice about it. I think universal healthcare is so important, that if Canada decided to get rid of it, I would move.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Do you have any plans this weekend?
We are telling our parents this weekend that when we take our little trip next month we have plans to get married. Fingers crossed they take it well.
Some wedding inspired links to check out over the weekend:
KISS THE GROOM
GET MARRIED
HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND!!! See you on Monday.

To Join, or Not To Join

The great debate is whether to join the bank accounts or not. I am VERY stingy with money and worry an awful lot about my credit. My future husband on the other hand - beer budget, champagne taste. He doesn't worry so much about saving for the future, he worries more about having the nicest and best of everything - the TV, the laptops, bluray - stuff that is not really important to me at all, but, is still nice to have.

We went out for a birthday dinner with a friend who was very surprised when we got seperate bills and each paid for our own meals. He just assumed we had a joint account of that my future husband would pay for my meal. We have always paid our own ways - and I never thought of joining accounts. What do you guys do? Do you think its a good idea to join accounts - or is each having your own the best idea?

Age Determined By Shoes?

Not more then a couple years ago, I wore shoes like this:

Beautiful, high, pointy or open toe. No matter the weather, no matter how tired, no matter how far I had to walk or what I had to do that day - I would wear heels.

Now, in my 30's I wear these:

The saddest part is - I walk downtown every day after work - about 30-45 minutes. I do not wear these shoes to walk downtown... oh no... I switch to RUNNERS!!!! I used to wear heels day in - day out. Now I cant even wear flats to walk downtown. I have become one of those women that wears ankle socks and runners with her cute little dress.

Sad.

Very Sad.

Is that a sign of middle age?

Maybe it's laziness.

Maybe it's because I don't feel the need to dress up at my job.. at all.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Is it me... or does this look AWESOME!

The Wedding....

So... as I mentioned, we went to a traditional Scottish wedding over the weekend. The bride was Canadian. She went to Scotland a couple years ago to tour around. There she met her groom. They dated for a year, and then her visa ran out and she came back to Canada. Her groom followed her back here around 6 months later.

They are so adorable. You can tell he is totally in love with her - almost giddy over it. They would both light up when they saw each other - made me so happy.

Here are a couple photo's of the event - remember, I am not a photographer...

Here are my future husband and I ready to go...

We drove out to the ceremony, and passed some wildlife on the way...

The ceremony was in the backyard it backed right onto the ocean... so beautiful

This is the front yard...

This is the groom anxiously waiting for the bride to come out...
The reception was at the University where there are TRILLIONS of bunnies

Bunnies Bunnies everywhere

At the reception we learned some traditional Scottish dancing

Look at the pretty flowers...

Later our table mates whooped it up on the dance floor...

Overall the wedding was awesome. We didn't know many people, but we were sat at a good table with nice people. The food was delish. We learned some fun dances. Everyone was well behaved. It all wrapped up early (by 12). We had a really good time.

Lovely Bones

I am SO EXCITED for Lovely Bones to come out...

If you haven't read the book you really need to. It is definitely one of my favorite books, and judging from the trailer - the movie looks awesome! I'm so excited!!!

Music Monday

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!!!
How was your weekend? We went to the Scottish wedding - oh man, so much fun!! And such great people!! Stay tuned for some pics (remember, I'm not a photographer).

PLUS!!! THERE WAS AN OWL JUST SITTING IN OUR BACKYARD!!! Just sitting there! I don't think I've seen an owl in the city up close like that before!!!

I have to admit - I feel bad for people growing up today. The music out now is nothing like what used to be around - even in the 90's the music was awesome. I don't know if standard is lower, or maybe I'm just old - but I cannot listen to the radio these days. There is nothing that really gets me interested. I also cannot see the music out now - Britney Spears, New Kids On The Block - will be "classics" in 20 years. Do you enjoy the music out today? I guess it all just comes down to taste... this is my taste...

Welcome to Music Monday... Check out this great song!!

Has anyone seen Away We Go? I wanted to see it while it was in the theatre - but of course, my future husband convinced me it wasn't a theatre movie - it was a dvd movie. I'm looking forward to it coming out... have you seen it?

A couple sentences from The Time Travelers Wife:"I try to remember being twenty. It's just a blur of women, breasts, legs, skin, hair. All their stories have jumbled together, and their faces no longer attach themselves to names..."

Have a great day everyone!!! Stay tuned for some pics...

When My Flow Starts I Create Art Like The Ghost Of Mozart

What have you been working on? Once I get a few more followers, I am more then happy to feature fellow artisons here - please leave a comment or email me if you would like to be featured in the future.

What have I been working on...

I am still making my adorable little hats. I love them... they are so cute. I need to have kids so I have some models to put up on the website haha.
http://www.itsybitsyknitsy.com/
I have just started to get into making environmentally friendly products such as tea totes (to carry your tea bags in so they are not loose in your purse) and coffee cuffs - reusable coffee sleeves - washable, reusable, and so cute!! Great for the environment.

My neighbour who made my dress is going to teach me to sew this fall. Once I learn that, I will continue with the baby theme, making quilts, bibs, and such. I would also like to carry on the environmentally friendly theme with sewing by making reusable bags of all sizes.

Check out my cute ad:

Come and join a book of the month club with me wont you? The Book? The Time Traveller's Wife.

Weightloss Wednesday

During my weight loss journey I will be posting fitness and diet tips on Wednesday's, as well as progress, and stuff that I have learned.
Welcome to Weightloss Wednesday!!

I will start off with a tip today, but, I have a feeling, today is going to mostly be a rant...
Tip:

Removing the skin from chicken saves you 5 grams of fat every time.
Eating fish instead of red meat saves you 90 calories per serving.

So.. here we go with the rant. Some new pictures have come out of Jennifer Love Hewitt playing tennis. Why she is playing tennis in a bikini and wedges is beyond me, but regardless, pictures of her have come out.

I first saw them on this one website that I actually look at quite regularly because its funny and kind of knocks celebrities down from their high horse. Sometimes he is a little vulgar and crude, and sometimes fully offensive, but for the most part just funny.

So over the long weekend he put up these pictures of Jennifer Love Hewitt making fun of her because she thinks she's a size two when she clearly isn't. I am not saying she is not a size two HE is. I have zero idea what a size two looks like. And really, how can anyone say, oh, I'm a size such and such. When I go to different stores - in one I'm a size 10, the next one a size 12, and then this one over here, I'm a size 8... So how can anyone be a definite size 2?

I can go to the Gap and try on pants, I pick up 2 of the EXACT SAME STYLE OF PANTS. One pair in black, one pair in brown. The brown pair fit like a glove - the black pair - same size, same style... too tight? Whats up with that? But I digress...

These pictures come out of JLH - oh she's fat she's fat.. WHERE?!?!? WHERE IS SHE FAT? She is wearing a BIKINI!! She is CLEARLY not hiding anything. She looks awesome! She looks thin, fit, not bobble head waif thin, but healthy! So to prove my point that she looks awesome, I show the pictures to my future husband. His response? "She's a little wide in the hip". WIDE IN THE HIP!?!?!? WHERE?!?!?!

To be fair, in my future husbands defence - he still thinks she's hot.

Please.. please tell me where she is wide in the hip! She looks great. Nicole Richie is too thin (not now obviously) but JLH - who looks awesome is too fat? Where is this fine line that has been drawn?

So on this same blog - this guy (not in the same post, but earlier) was talking about how all women should look and dress like Kendra:
How adorable is she?
Now, I am a huge Kendra fan, and I think she looks awesome - and if she wants to dress like that, then by all means do so. Kendra however defended women everywhere and came out with THIS great response. I love her!

That is the end of my rant.. comments? Questions? Queries?
Have a great day - see you tomorrow!

Alice In Wonderland

Who is excited for Alice In Wonderland?
I love Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, as well as Anne Hathaway. I am very excited for this movie. I am interested to see Tim Burton's take on it. He always does such a great job with movies.
When I was younger Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorites books and movies (the cartoon). It wasn't until I was a bit older that I realized how strange it actually was... But, I still love it.

Other movies I want to see:
Julie and Julia
500 Days of Summer
We have gone to a lot of movies lately:

Transformers (The new one - I don't know what it's called) - it was good. A lot of Megan Fox running around in a tank top. But it was a good action movie.
The Hangover - I cannot say enough good things about this movie. Oh man. You can tell by the ads that its a funny movie. You cannot truely appreciate how funny this movie is until you see it. It is so much better then the ads let on...

Harry Potter (I think its the Half Blood Prince) - I enjoyed this one. I don't know what it is about Harry Potter - but I never got into them. I don't know if it's because they are childrens books or if there was too much hype around them. But I didn't really love the movies - never read the books. I did enjoy this movie though. My future husband loves Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, so I always get dragged to these movies with no real desire to go.
Star Trek - I could have done without this movie. I enjoy Zack Quinto - but I like him as Sylar - not as Spock. This movie was VERY long - I didn't know what was going on half the time. I could have gone without seeing it.

Ice Age 3D - Naturally I loved this movie. The 3D wasn't great 100% of the time. There was some blurry stuff - but over all ... SO GOOD!

UP - this was an awesome movie as well. Very sad. Much sadder then I thought it would be. More sad.. not sadder.

What do you guys think of this Twilight stuff? I know not ALL the books are called Twilight - but that's what I call them all. I read all 4 books. I thought the first one was good - but you could definitely see some childish points in there? You could definitely see that it was written for teens, but it was still pretty good overall. I didn't like the other 3 as much but I read them all the same.

I enjoyed the Twilight movie for the most part. Again, some very cheesy childish parts. But overall it was good. I will see the others.

I had never actually heard of Twilight until the movie was coming out. Everyone at my work was reading the books and passing them around. I wanted to join in the conversations so I read them. That is how I was introduced to them. I don't think the movies or the books would have interested me otherwise.

Have you seen any good movies, read any good books lately?

Botanical Beach

Close to where I live is a botanical beach - there are a LOT of beaches close to where I live, but this one is really popular. So basically, it is a HUGE beach - the ocean comes in, fills hundreds of little pot holes with water, plant life, little creatures - then the tide goes out, and you walk along the beach and look in all these little tide pools at all the ocean life.

So, this is where we went. It was really quite nice - the ocean was crazy - huge waves, plus it was foggy and cloudy so it was pretty cool. I was nice to get out of the 32 degree weather for a bit - even though it is so close.
**CLICK ON ANY IMAGE TO MAKE IT BIGGER**
So when you first drive up to the park, you have to walk about 15 minutes to get down to the beach. You walk along this rocky, tree rooty, very green trail.

This was a crazy rock formation just randomly placed up on the main rock.

This was a cute tiny little tide pool

This is just a view of the main beach - you can kind of see in the back ground the big waves.

More waves...

View of the trees and beach, you can see the fog in this picture...

This was a huge rock out in the ocean - when the waves washed up on the rock it formed all these adorable little water falls coming off of it. (If you click on it you can see the tiny waterfalls a bit better)

Tide pools...

This last picture is of a cliff - and the rock had broken away from the bottom of the cliff - so when you looked up all you saw was the earth with roots in it and plants growing up from it.

**EDIT** I would like to also add - that all tempetures on this blog are in celcius, not fahrenheit for those of you confused - thinking "who is this crazy chick!! 35 degrees is NOT hot!!!"
~ Thank you :D
