Everyday Minerals Review

Hey everyone. I hope you all had a great new years and have a great start to 2010!!!
As you know, mentioned HERE, I received my Try Me Everyday Minerals sample packs the other week. I have read and watched (on youtube) so many great reviews about this product that I decided to order it.
Instead of just getting a few free packs at various times, I decided to pay a bit of extra money so I could try everything all at once. I am not a patient woman, and don't want to wait for everything to arrive in order to try it.
I ordered 4 bases, 3 finishing powders, and 3 blushes.
My skin type is normal/oily. I don't HAVE to wear moisturizer. I don't feel uncomfortable if I don't wear it, but I do wear it as it makes my makeup application more smooth.

I tried out all the finishes of the base. There is intensive (slightly heavier coverage, matte finish), matte (medium coverage, matte), semi matte (medium coverage, has a sheen to it), original glow (more for dry skin, has a sheen, light coverage).
I tried. I really really tried to love this mineral makeup. I don't know if it is because my skin is too oily or if it's just not the right kind of mineral makeup for me, but I am not a fan.
I am currently using Physicians Formula Mineral Wear, which I think is quite lovely. It covers nicely, has a buildable coverage so you can go from quite a bit of coverage to a nice natural look.
But I digress, The Everyday Minerals just doesn't sit right on me. After about 2-3 hours of wearing the makeup, I have nothing left on my nose and forehead, and my cheeks, the side of my nose and chin just have blotches of makeup on them. You can literally SEE the blotches. I've never experienced that before.
I use the oil absorbing kaolin clay finishing powder over top - but find it does nothing. It actually makes me feel like I'm wearing clay. I know it sounds insane, but to raise my eyebrows, my forehead feels heavy, like I'm wearing a clay mask.
The blush. I really think I did make a poor choice in the colour of blush, so that's my fault. However, the blush just sits on top of the make up. It is very obvious that I'm wearing, what seems like, a heavy blush over blotchy makeup. No matter how much buffing I did, I just couldn't blend it in.
Overall, I think Everyday minerals is a great product. Great prices, adorable packaging, it's awesome that you can purchase sample sizes, cheap delivery, and a nice short ingredient list. I just find it is not the right makeup for me. I think a lot of people love it, and its looks awesome on a lot of people, it's just not for me.
I want to love it so much that I am going to give it a couple more tries with my new Sigma brushes (review coming soon!!!) to see if that makes any difference - so my opinion may change. But for now,I'm not a fan.
*I did not get these products for free. I am not affiliated with the company in any way. I am not being paid by the company. This is my honest opinion, not a paid review*

  1. Hey Thanks for the comment hun!
In regards to MAC paint pots vs UDPP, if you are looking for a base to make the shadow stay put all day long, go with UDPP. It makes the colors vibrant and completely creaseless throughout the day. And I find it's much easier to blend the e/s. I'll usually use Painterly paint pot daily as apart of my neutral everyday eye look. But if it's going to be a long day or night without time to touch up, or/and I'm putting more hard work into creating an eye look, I'll be sure to use the UDPP. :)
And as for Gosh, I totally recommend the On Stage Cool Lip Jam! They have a ton of funky colors if that's your style too! Like the liquid eyeliners come in an array of shades!
Let me know what you try from Gosh and how you like it :)
