Eclipse Movie Review

So, I have a TON of updating to do. I know I've been MIA - but I have a lot of posts coming up.

Today I went and saw Eclipse. I have a love / hate relationship with these movies / books. There is a basic (hilarious) overview of the movie HERE. If you haven't seen these before, you can see the other two movies HERE and HERE.

Anyway, I am neither Team Edward or Team Jacob. I also can't stand Bella. I originally read the original Twilight book when a co-worker told me I HAD to read it. I did, and enjoyed it - then moved on to the other three books. I liked the first two - three was ok - four was a little over the top. I didn't realize there was such a crazy following until after I was done all the books.

So Eclipse. Again, my favorite part of the movie was the Volutri - although, they are not in it very much. And again, I love love love Jane's make-up and style. So awesome - best part of the movie - again.

This movie had a bit more going on. It was the best of the three movies - both my husband and I agree on this.

The things I don't like:

The first scene, this guy gets a little scratch on his hand - then lays on the ground screaming, and writhing in pain. Like freaking! Out! You know, I've cut my hand before. I actually cut my hand so bad I went right through the tendon, had to get everything sewn back together and get physio for six weeks. I did not writhe in pain. At all. Even once. Yes, it hurt - but not as bad as the movie would make it look.

Anyway, I find all the movies have a lot of over acting in them. Very very dramatic, very teen angsty.

I think I'm just too old to enjoy the obsessive creepiness of Edward. Like, if he were a real high school boy - dating my daughter - there would be some trouble. He is very obsessive and controlling. Very hang around all the time and stare - stare - stare. Even Bella's mother comments about how he is ALWAYS STARING at her. Creepy.

There are some good fight scenes in this movie. They were quite well done, but the cheesy lines, facial expressions, the obsessiveness of Edward, and the uselessness of Bella really cancel out any parts that would be cool normally.

And Jasper drives me crazy. The constant constipated look on his face drives me up the wall. Also, his big speech on how to fight the new vampire gang was pretty useless. Pretty much don't let them kill you. Useless.

My favorite character is still Charlie. His dry sense of humour is AWESOME.
