A Whale of a Tale

A couple weeks ago hubby and I went to the beach (below) to check out a whale that washed ashore. He wasn't a beached whale, he had passed away well before he washed ashore. I know it's morbid and weird - but when will you ever get a chance to see a whale up close like that again?
First - the beach. How beautiful is it here?
*click to enlarge - it's worth it*

It was about a 10 minute walk from the parking area to the beach. Once on the beach - the tide was in, so we had to climb up along the rocks to move along the beach. I'm not very tall (5 foot 3 and 3/4 inches) so climbing up on the rocks was quite the task. Especially when your shoes are damp and the rocks are slippery - but I lived.

And then there was the whale. These pics were taken by my co-worker Pauline. It's morbid, stinky and sad - but amazing.

And then it's SHOCKING!!! Who are these people? WHY ARE THEY TOUCHING THE WHALE!!! And who does that little girl belong to? She is full on rubbing the whale - then she's gonna rub her face or pick her nose. They are still not sure how this whale died. They believe it starved to death - but it could have a disease!

So... that's it...

Alice In Wonderland Review

My hubby FINALLY took me to see Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. I have been wanting to see it since August 2009!!!

I knew the movie wasn't going to be the original Alice. I knew that it took place years later when Alice accidentally fell back down the hole. I was really really hoping that there would be a lot of stuff from the original - there was some - but not tons.

We saw this movie in 2d because it took us FOREVER to go and see it - but I can imagine it's even more amazing in 3d.

I LOVED this movie. I loved the characters. They were all really well played. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were AMAZING!!! They put so much into it and really got into their characters. I loved it.

Anne Hathaway was, of course, adorable. She did a really good job. Her character was adorable and sweet.

That leaves Alice. She was played by Mia Wasikowska. I have never seen any of the movies she's in, so I had no idea who she is or what kind of actress she is - but I loved her. She's adorable and has a beautiful face.

I loved the costumes and makeup. The dresses Alice wears are usually just ripped up pieces of her old dress or curtains or whatever they can find - and it always looks amazing. Johnny Depp's makeup was amazing! The shading and contouring was crazy and I loved it!

In case you have been living in a cave - here is the trailer. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
